Rare large solid silver olive spoon in a flat-bladed style, with the spoon blade engraved with a coat of arms framed by rearing lions, all surmounted by a marquis’s crown. Hallmarks and discharge marks for PARIS 1722–26, guild mark for PARIS 1726 (C with a crown) and the hallmark of Master Silversmith Denis DESPORTES (crowned fleur-de-lis, two grains, initials “DDP,” and a door) licensed in 1715. Rare olive spoon bearing a coat of arms, with very beautiful re-engraved decoration, in very good condition and remarkably hallmarked, early 18th century, with minor scratches from use.
