Pair Of Four-arm Wall Sconces In Gilded Bronze, Louis XV Style, Late 19th Century
A beautiful pair of chiseled and gilded bronze wall sconces in the Louis XV (rocaille) style. Each sconce features a curvilinear base with a shell-shaped cartouche, ending at the bottom with a pendant adorned with a blooming rose and foliage. Four light arms, adorned with volutes and acanthus leaves, extend from this base, one of which curves upward. The lampshades, shaped like openwork ribbon bows, hold candle holders decorated with foliage and faux candles made of cream-colored resin with drip marks.
The chiseling is meticulous, with warm-toned gilding and a nuanced antique patina. The wall sconces are electrified, with twisted silk wire running through the arms. They mount from the back onto a mounting plate.
