Pair Of Goblets On A Pedestal, Made Of Patinated Bronze And Red Marble, Neo-greek Style, Napoleonic Period
Each cup features a wide rim with a finely chiseled radiating pattern. The body is adorned with a relief medallion depicting a classical female profile and a profile of Hercules wearing the skin of the Nemean lion, framed by thistles and pinecones. It stands on a baluster base accented by a collar of lotus leaves, with a small gilded rod. Two scroll-shaped handles, in the Neo-Greek style, frame the bowl. The marble bases are molded in stepped tiers, with carved decoration on the front (a circular medallion and scalloped lines). They rest on small brass balls, and the bronze is secured to the marble by a central screw.
These pieces can be used as trinket dishes, decorative bowls, or as accents on a mantelpiece, console table, or sideboard.
