Antique Balinese Dvarapala Guardian Figure, Polychrome Wood, Bali, 19th Century

A Balinese carved and polychrome wooden guardian figure, Dvarapala, dating from the 19th century.

Retaining substantial green, black and ochre polychrome decoration with traces of gilding. Wear and losses to the painted surface reveal the warm colour of the wood beneath.
