The Neo school is documented from the Momoyama period until the mid-Edo. Neo Masanobu first attracted attention. A native of Mino, he moved to Nara where his 120-blade helmets acquired a national reputation. Nara was the center of the Neo school's activity, later established in Izumi and Owari. A comparison of the signatures indicates that there were two masters who used the name Masanobu. The signatures are washu ju masanobu saku or nato juè neo masanobu or neo masanobu saku
