Iron Votif Figure Nepal
a superb votive figure of the Gurung ethnic group (west Nepal) in hammered iron. This heavy sculpture consists of hand-wrought iron and represents a squatting male figure with elongated head and body and short bent legs. The arms are joined in a Namaste gesture. The surface shows a partially dark to crusty patina which comes from a ritual use and a long time old. These sculptures (made by the casting of Khami blacksmiths) are a gift given in order to fulfill a vow, at the main sanctuary from Mastra. exposed Paris during an exhibition on Nepal realized by renaud Vanuxem.
