An etching depicting two Parisian women walking their dogs in Paris in the 1930s. The print, from a very limited edition, is numbered 13/20 in the lower left corner, and the print is signed in pencil in the lower right corner. The etching measures 17.7 x 13 cm at the edge. The print is on thick Canson-type paper. Unfortunately, it has a few visible spots as seen in the photographs.
Ernest Rouart (Paris 1874 – id. 1942) was a French painter, watercolorist, pastel artist, engraver, and collector. He was one of the four sons of Henri Rouart and the brother of Eugène Rouart, whom he portrayed around 1900. He married Julie Manet, the daughter of Berthe Morisot and Eugène Manet. Edgar Degas was his teacher of drawing, painting, and likely engraving, and also served as the matchmaker for his marriage to Julie Manet.
