Large Pair Of Chinese Cloisonné Enamel Vases Depicting Peonies And Birds – First Half Of The
Large pair of Chinese cloisonné vases with peonies and birds – first half of the 20th century
A significant pair of Chinese baluster vases in cloisonné enamel, decorated with large pink, red, and white peonies and birds in flight against a midnight blue background finely rendered with geometric motifs.
The design extends across the entire circumference of each vase. Polychrome friezes featuring floral and stylized motifs accentuate the shoulders, flared necks, and feet, in a palette of turquoise, green, and pink. The combination of the deep blue background and the vividly colored enamels gives this pair a striking decorative presence.
Chinese work from the first half of the 20th century, made of cloisonné enamel on metal. The borders feature a gilded finish.
