Rug, needle tapestry, floral cartouches on a pink background, 20th century.

- This rug, woven using the needlepoint tapestry technique, features a peach-pink background with four repetitions of the same motif: a Rocaille-style cartouche in light tones (creamy white), the center of which features a bouquet of flowers rendered in a naturalistic style. The flowers consist primarily of lilies and roses, both in bud and in full bloom. The hues of these flowers, more saturated than the background, offer an elegant contrast to it. Similarly, the foliage features cool tones (shades of blue and green) that delicately play off the warm tones of the flowers and the background. Highlighting the rug’s perimeter, a garland of flowers and foliage in the same color palette serves as a border. Finally, a few centimeters outside this floral garland, a brown strip carefully completes the design. 

- A reinforcement strip is sewn to the reverse side along the perimeter to strengthen the selvages.

- In good condition; minor wear is present (see last photo).
