Aubusson-style Knotted Rug, 387x307 Cm

An elegant Aubusson-style rug with a rich and refined design inspired by grand French decorative motifs. The design centers around a large central field in a golden-yellow hue, punctuated by a central floral medallion and delicate plant motifs.

The border and the four corners are particularly striking. Large circular medallions feature depictions of mythical lions, accompanied by scrollwork, acanthus foliage, and floral elements. The lions, rendered in golden and coppery tones against blue-green backgrounds, lend a heraldic and decorative dimension to the overall design. They are surrounded by plant scrolls and bouquets that reinforce the neoclassical character of the composition.

The design is complemented by numerous bouquets of flowers, garlands, foliage, scrolls, and geometric ornaments, skillfully arranged in a perfectly balanced composition. The central medallion, circular in shape, features a large floral rosette with blue-green and cream petals, surrounded by several decorative frames.

The color palette, particularly soft and harmonious, combines shades of golden yellow, cream, beige, ochre, terracotta, powder pink, celadon green, and blue-green, to which the patina of age lends a beautiful depth. The rug thus retains the warm and subtly nuanced charm characteristic of antique rugs and Aubusson-style designs.

Size : 387x307 cm
Condition : Patina on the wool, signs of wear due to age. A few white wool flecks are visible, as well as two slight areas of missing wool, visible in the photographs. The colors have also been weathered over time.
The rug remains, however, in good overall condition and has a beautiful decorative presence.
