Calder is a modern painter and sculptor. He was born in 1898 near Philadelphia (United States) and died in 1976 in New York (United States).
He is best known for his sculptures, but he also made a series of gouaches composed of geometric shapes in primary colors.
He created abstract sculptures and metal structures. He is a friend of the artists Fernand Léger, Joan Miró, Piet Mondrian.
