"love In A Letter" Snuffbox Made Of Boiled Cardboard - 19th-century Restoration Period
A circular box or snuffbox made of varnished boiled cardboard; the lid is decorated with a romantic and poetic scene titled "Love in a Letter," depicting Cupid, armed with his bow, emerging from a sealed letter. In the background are an inkwell, a large wax seal with a handle, and a quill. The base and interior of the box are lacquered black.

Note on condition. The lid has retained its full luster. The interior of the box shows a fine network of hairline cracks and very slight signs of wear.
