Beautiful Snuffbox In Burl & Horn, Young Woman Profile, Carved & Painted, 19th Century

A very pretty cylindrical snuffbox. Made of burr wood, it is decorated with black horn rim and features a central medallion on the lid, under glass and edged with horn. The medallion, made of animal material with a white background, depicts a young woman's profile in slightly raised, carved black horn. The white background is hand-painted with her chignon and the lace of her clothing. A very beautiful effect! The interior is lined with shell, very elegant!
Excellent condition, although there are a few internal chips and slight wear to the glass, nothing serious!
European working, probably French, dating from the first part of the 19th century, circa 1830.
Dimensions: 8.5cm diameter x 2.7cm H.
