Small Bronze Incense Burner In The Shape Of An Elephant's Head – Late 19th Century

A charming little tabletop fire starter made of bronze with a brown patina, finely sculpted in the shape of an elephant’s head. The back features a hinged lid for storing matches, while the outer surface served as a striking surface. The tusks, made of natural material (bone or ivory substitute), provide a lovely contrast to the warm patina of the bronze. The eyes are set in, enhancing the realism of this small animal sculpture.
