Large Neo-gothic Multi-lobed Mirror Made Of Carved And Gilded Wood – 20th Century
A substantial and highly decorative carved, painted, and partially gilded wooden mirror in the Neo-Gothic style, dating from the early 20th century.
The frame features a remarkable upper section with a trilobed Gothic arch , accented by gilded moldings and fillets.
The spandrels of the arch are adorned with foliage motifs carved in relief, characteristic of the Neo-Gothic decorative vocabulary.
The lower section rests on an overhanging crossbar adorned with an openwork frieze featuring arcature motifs, terminated on each side by carved elements forming small feet.
The antique finish in reddish-brown tones accented with gold features a beautiful patina, with wear, small chips, and signs of age visible in the photographs, all of which contribute to the piece’s authentic character.
The mirror retains its original glass, which shows some discoloration and pitting.
A striking architectural piece, ideal for a historic home, an entryway, or above a console table.
