Antique Classic Art Deco Sterling Silver Engine-turned Gentleman’s Hip Flask

A chic and elegant Art Deco sterling-silver hip flask.

The gently curved body is decorated on both sides with finely engine-turned vertical bands incorporating several subtly differing geometric patterns. The front has a restrained rectangular cartouche, left vacant for the owner’s initials.

It is fitted with a well-engineered captive screw cap, hinged to the shoulder so that it cannot be lost.

The underside is stamped “STERLING-SILVER” above “JC 6”. The use of the words “STERLING-SILVER” suggests that the flask may be American. The figure 6 most probably denotes its six-fluid-ounce capacity.

A stylish and beautifully made gentleman’s accessory from the golden age of Art Deco design.
