I am offering you this splendid Chinese “bitong” brush vase made of blue-and-white porcelain. The cobalt-blue underglaze decorations depict a garden scene featuring three scholars and two women preparing to have tea in a garden. A young man is arriving with tea on a tray. A wading bird watches the scene from the side. This “bitong” is an antique piece, and the hand-thrown porcelain is entirely textured. Two blue circles surround the background of the design.
