China. Vase Decorated With Gold-powdered Dragons On A Blue Background. Qing Dynasty, Guangxu Period.
A superb vase, a testament to the excellence of Chinese porcelain. With its deep blue background, this vase features a powdered gold decoration of two five-clawed dragons chasing the sacred pearl through the clouds. A frieze above and below the main decoration highlights these distinctive dragons. The neck is adorned with "Shou" characters, symbols of longevity, Buddhist characters and bats.
Below, a gold-colored six-character signature of the Qianlong emperor.
Guangxu period (1875-1908).
This vase has suffered a large tear at the top of the neck. Clearly visible on the photos. A few glaze protrusions at the base of the neck. The gilding is in superb condition, which is rare on this type of vase. The powder-blue color is magnificent.
Once restored, this vase will be one of a kind.
