"Japanese Cloisonné Dish. Edo Period."
Very rare Japanese cloisonné bronze dish from the Edo period (1603-1868). The top of the dish is entirely covered in cloisonné and depicts a scene of two men in a boat going up a wild river, among plants, birds, fish and turtles. Cloisonné is very detailed and fine in its design. The underside is also magnificent with stylized flower decorations. There are some gaps on one side below the dish. It is not visible when the dish is placed on a table.
