Fernand Aelman (1863–1927)—a Belgian painter born in Ghent—was best known for his traditional landscape paintings and portraits. His artistic oeuvre is dominated by classical and evocative landscapes, notably views of rivers, riverside villages, sunsets, and charming winter scenes. In addition to Belgian subjects, he also painted travel scenes, such as Swiss mountain landscapes.
