19th-century France: Putti In High Relief, Oval Wooden Panel
A charming oval panel featuring two cherubs (putti) carved in high relief as they play with doves. A French piece from the second half of the 19th century. Hovering above a swarm of clouds, these chubby, cheerful little boys are perfectly in keeping with the Neoclassical artistic movement, which was already well-established and very popular in 19th-century art.
Beautiful, warm wood patina; fine carving; in excellent condition. Unsigned.
