19th Century Ivory Bust Depicting Frederick II Of Prussia

An ivory bust depicting Frederick II of Prussia (1712-1786), one of the most emblematic figures of the European Enlightenment and a sovereign of exceptional character.
Frederick the Great is shown wearing his famous tricorn hat, adorned with an elegant floral motif on the side, as well as the military uniform decorated with the insignia of the Order of the Black Eagle, finely engraved on the chest.
The details of the face, the hair tied in a ponytail, and the uniform testify to the hand of a skilled 19th-century sculptor, capable of making the most of the material. The bust rests on a turned ivory base.
