JAPAN - Edo Period (1603–1868).
Complete samurai armor.
KABUTO (helmet) made of red-lacquered metal with thirty-nine plates.
THEHEN NO ANA (top opening) with a five-degree angle, made of embossed copper.
SHIKORO (neck guard) with a three-degree angle, lacquered red and featuring white and orange silk braiding.
MABI SA SHI (visor) made of metal covered with suede embossed with geometric patterns.
FUKIGAESHI (flaps) wide, made of red-lacquered metal, with orange silk braiding and suede embossed with geometric patterns.
MAEDATE made of copper, featuring two large horns with the stylized tip of Fudo-Myoo’s sword centered between them; the openwork, engraved base is adorned with stylized chrysanthemum motifs.
MEMPO (half-mask) made of red-lacquered wrought iron, with a pronounced chin, a movable nose, black horsehair whiskers, visible gilded teeth, and pierced nostrils.
YODARE-KAKE (neck guard) with four tiers, lacquered red and woven with white and orange silk.
DO (chest plate) made of red-lacquered metal with white silk braiding; it is adorned in the center with a copper plate worked in repoussé and chiseled to depict a coiled dragon.
SODE (shoulder guards) with seven tiers, lacquered red and featuring white and orange silk braiding.
KOTE (arm guards) made of chain mail and red-lacquered iron plates.
KUSAZURI (skirt) with five rows, lacquered red with white and orange silk braiding.
HAIDATE (underskirt) with four articulated rows made of red-lacquered metal, white silk braiding, and a padded silk border.
SUNEATE (leg guards) made of iron plates and chainmail, lacquered red, with quilted fabric.
Dimensions of the armor in a seated position: 160 x 55 x 54 cm.
Sold with its display stand and its GUSOKU BITSU (transport chests) made of red and black lacquered wood.
