The Gien factory is an internationally renowned institution in the world of French earthenware and tableware. Founded in 1821 by the English industrialist Thomas Edme Hulm, with the ambition of creating earthenware using French techniques in an English style.
This rarer “Empire” design dates from the 1890s. The “Empire” design incorporates Empire-era motifs such as laurel leaves and a rich, structured decorative scheme.
