Large Japanese Imari Ceramic Display Plate

An important and monumental ceremonial plate made of Imari porcelain from Japan, dating from the early 20th century. This piece stands out for its exceptional size—51 cm in diameter—a rare dimension that makes a striking visual impact, designed for high-level diplomatic occasions and international collecting circles of the time.
The decoration, executed with extraordinary painterly skill, unfolds in the classic fan-shaped radiating pattern. The rich color palette combines deep cobalt blue underglaze with iron red and sumptuous details in pure gold overglaze.Within the medallions, traditional geometric motifs alternate with figurative scenes of great symbolic significance:
The Phoenixes, a mythological symbol of rebirth, grace, and imperial harmony, depicted among flowering branches.
The Dogs of Pho, the legendary Chinese guardian lions, symbols of protection and vigor, set within blue-background reserves rich in floral details.The center of the plate (cavetto) is embellished with a circular medallion featuring a stylized chrysanthemum motif, the emblem of the Japanese imperial house.
The piece is in excellent condition, with the brilliance of the enamels and gilding beautifully preserved. No restoration or repolishing.
