Biography: Born on January 17, 1771, in Marcouzens, Dordogne.
Joined the 2nd Battalion of the Dordogne, which became the 7½th Light Infantry Brigade
on July 5, 1792. Sergeant; Sergeant Major on January 9, 1793.
Promoted to Second Lieutenant in the 3½th Light Infantry Brigade on Vendôme, Year 2.
Promoted to lieutenant on 1 Nevura, Year 8.
Promoted to captain on 4 Fermidor, Year 11; transferred to the 12½th Light Infantry Brigade on 12 Fermidor, Year 11. Transferred to the 5th Light Infantry Regiment on the 29th of Fermidor, Year 12.
Appointed battalion commander of the 24th Light Infantry Regiment on November 13, 1813.
Campaigns and injuries: Served in the campaigns of 1792 and 1793; in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th campaigns with the Army of the Rhine.
In the 6th and 7th campaigns with the Army of England.
In Years 8 and 9, he served in the Army of Italy.
He spent Years 10, 11, and 12 in Saint-Domingue.
In Year 14, he served in the Army of the North.
In 1811 and 1812, and part of 1813, he was in Spain; from part of 1813 through 1814, he served with the Grande Armée.
