Small Empire-style Table Clock - Gilded Bronze

Artist: Fleschelle à Paris

Gilded bronze CLOCK, circa 1815 , shaped like a pillar flanked at each of its four corners by a torch and surmounted by an eagle. The ensemble is topped by a bowl with two handles, resting on Boulle feet with roulette motifs.

Enamel dial with Roman numerals for the hours and a railway-track minute scale, signed “Ls Fleschelle à Paris.” Tardy mentions a clockmaker named Fleschelle, who was established at the Passage des Panoramas in 1820. The hands are Bréguet-style steel. Round Paris movement with chime striking the hours and half-hours on a bell via a clapper. Wire suspension.  The mechanism will be serviced prior to sale (disassembly, adjustment of wear-related clearances, cleaning, reassembly, oiling, and regulation). Includes key and balance wheel. Weekly winding.
