Simon Van Gelderen, 1905–1986, was a Belgian painter born in Brussels who created landscapes, cityscapes, seascapes, portraits, interiors, and still lifes. Pastel artist, draftsman, and engraver. He first studied drawing at Saint-Luc and later was a student of Alfred Stevens and Victor Rousseau at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. He was known for capturing the picturesque aspects of Brussels. He worked in France, in Paris and on the French Riviera. He painted portraits of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands and the Shah of Iran. The artist is listed in the Bénézit, Arto, and Piron art reference works, and is rated by Artprice, Artnet, Akoun, etc...
