A Couple Embracing, Cast In Bronze. Southeast Asia, India, Ceylon, Kashmir. Antique.
Lost-wax bronze casting. It depicts a couple standing and making love in a position that could be from the Kama Sutra. Beautiful, very old—even archaic—natural patina. The statuette is certainly Asian, likely from India but possibly from Southeast Asia; the distinctive shape of the two figures’ buns might allow an expert to determine its precise origin and date. Height approximately 7 or 8 cm. In good condition, no repairs.
