Artist: à La Romaine / Consulat
Chiseled and gilded cast brass mount in the shape of an eagle's head, with a handle featuring geometric shapes and crossed ribbons, along with a bundle of spears pointing downward.
Sturdy rectangular crossguard decorated with staff motifs and a garland of hearts (dimensions 10 x 3.5 x 3 cm).
Sturdy forged steel blade with a thin groove down the center of the double-edged blade; length 50.5 cm, width at the heel 5.9 cm.
Sturdy scabbard made of thick, black-varnished leather with two brass fittings.
SCABBARD FITTING: with a cut-out edge and a lion-headed button for attaching to a belt; marked at the bottom of the fitting with “Long live General-in-Chief Bonaparte.”
Pommel: with an oval-shaped pommel stud and the inscription “1st Sapper Regiment of the Guard.”
Weapon length: 71 cm.
