Rémy Cogghe; born in Belgium but arriving in Roubaix at a very young age. Rémy Cogghe established himself as the leading Roubaix artist of his generation. After winning the Prix de Rome, which allowed him to discover the Mediterranean basin and Rome, he returned to the northern textile city, which he would practically never leave again, where he produced numerous portraits of the local bourgeoisie and genre scenes inspired by the picturesque Roubaix.
