Small Louis XIII-style Chest In Walnut, With Diamond-point Decor And Ball-shaped Feet.
A lovely little Louis XIII-style chest made of solid walnut.
It rests on two rectangular-section rear legs and two ball-shaped front legs, topped by a wide moldings.
The front consists of two panels adorned with thick diamond-shaped motifs forming lozenges in the center and triangles in the corners. The two panels are separated by a molded vertical crossbar.
The two sides are also decorated with geometric patterns created by grooving.
The front and sides are adorned at the top with a molding that forms an inverted V in the center.
This chest is topped with a lid that opens on two hinges.
This is a fine piece from the late 19th–early 20th century.
Our piece is in very good condition. Please note: there are a few woodworm holes as well as some minor stains due to use and age, none of which are serious.
