Artist: Jean-charles Pochon à Paris
A large, impressive clock made of finely chiseled bronze with mercury gilding , mounted on a white Carrara marble base depicting "Study" and "Philosophy."
Both figures are based on models by the well known sculptor Louis Simon Boizot.
The large white enamel dial is signed “Pochon à Paris" pour Jean-Charles Pochon , an important clockmaker active around 1780.
The clock is in very good original condition , with the original gilding beautifully preserved.
The movement requires cleaning by a clockmaker.
