A good portrait miniature of around 1840-1860, depicting Queen Henrietta Maria of England (1609 – 1669), wife of Charles I. Signed ‘Ram’ and can be attributed to the miniature painter Rajah Jivan Ram (active 1820-1850), who was of Indian descent but painted miniatures in the Western fashion. Ram initially signed his works in Indian script, but later in Western script.
Good condition for the age.
