Elegant French Louis XV style bergère armchair dating from the 19th century, distinguished by its beautifully carved walnut frame and generous, enveloping proportions.

The shaped back is composed of a central upholstered panel flanked by two gently curved padded wings, creating an especially comfortable and sophisticated silhouette. The richly carved wooden frame displays characteristic Louis XV inspired ornamentation, including scrolling foliage, floral motifs, delicate cross-hatched details and an attractive carved crest centered above the back. The open, sweeping armrests continue into finely sculpted supports, while the shaped apron is decorated with further scrolling acanthus and shell-like carving.

The chair stands on four elegant cabriole legs, each terminating in delicately carved feet. Its warm, deep walnut tone provides a striking contrast with the luxurious golden-yellow damask upholstery. The fabric features an elaborate classical foliate pattern in subtly varying shades of gold, cream and beige, and is traditionally finished with decorative brass upholstery nails.
