Pascal Guyot In Biot – Large Iridescent Blown-glass Vase, Art Nouveau Style

An impressive and spectacular blown glass vase created by Pascal Guyot, a master glassblower in Biot, signed and dated 1995 on the base.

With a slender shape and a bulging body, this piece features a remarkable aquatic-inspired design, dominated by deep shades of blue and turquoise. The polychromatic yellow, white, and purplish inclusions seem to shift within the glass, evoking an underwater world of seabeds, corals, seaweed, and aquatic organisms.

With its organic, dynamic forms, textural variations, iridescent effects, and naturalistic inspiration, this creation also embodies the spirit of Art Nouveau, of which Pascal Guyot offers a personal and contemporary interpretation here at the end of the 20th century.

Pascal Guyot discovered the world of glass at a very young age in Biot. In 1975, he joined the renowned Verrerie de Biot, where he trained in glassblowing techniques.

He worked notably alongside Jean-Claude Novaro and Robert Pierini, leading figures in Biot’s glassmaking scene, before gradually developing his own artistic language.

This large vase, dated 1995, with its substantial dimensions and richly detailed aquatic decoration, is a beautiful example of his work.
