'lorenzo Delleani' Nude Figure Squatting Antique Painting Ca. 1860 Original
Artist: Lorenzo Delleani
Oil on canvas. The work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity based on a photograph by the scholar Angelo Dragone, who also notes that he has published it in his catalog *Lorenzo Delleani, l'opera e il suo tempo*, Vol. II, p. 105, no. 21.
From a private collection in Turin, the work was offered at the Sant’Agostino auction in Turin (with a reserve price of €5,000).
Delleani, who initially painted mainly historical subjects, gradually turned to “en plein air” landscape painting, focusing especially on the places of his origins: the Piedmontese valleys.
He later also painted various figures, especially ordinary people, while his nudes are rarer, although scenes of bathers—at the lake or on the beach—featuring several nude female figures are a recurring theme, as seen in the pose of the figure depicted here.
The work is presented in a period-style frame.
