Pair Of Portraits Of Children Attributed To Haüer (1751-1829), Oils/cardboard, Late 18th Century.
Pair of oils on cardboard depicting portraits of children in period clothes in charming scenes, typical of the late 18th century
-on one hand, a young boy with a dove perched on his hand
-on the other hand, a young girl showing a butterfly above her head.
On the back of the portrait of the young boy named Auguste Morard, a label attributes these two paintings to Haüer, painter and friend of the family.
It would therefore be Jean Jacques Haüer, born in Algesheimen Rhineland in 1751 and died in Paris in 1829, known for having painted two major works: the painting 'Mort de Marat' which is in the Louvre as well as the portrait of Charlotte Corday.
These two portraits from the end of the 18th century that we are offering for sale have been restored, cleaned and repainted.
They are presented in their original gilded wooden frame.
Dimensions: --Oils on cardboard: 60 cm X 47 cm --Frames: 69.5 cm X 55.5 cm .
