The artist was a very renowned genre and portrait painter, who worked in Vienna in the 2nd half of the 19th century. He studied at the Prague Academy and at the Vienna Academy in the class of the famous F. Waldmüller. This portrait was painted by the artist under the influence of his contemporary and founder of Viennese-style historicism Hans Makart (1840 - 1884).

Inscription: signed lower right, on the back of the canvas there is an inscription in Italian with the name of the person depicted in Italian: "Sinorita Escozura 1882".
