"Portrait Of A Young Woman By Giosue Bianchi (1803-1875), Miniature On Ivory"
Original antique miniature (gouache on ivory) created in 1836 by the Italian miniaturist Giosue Bianchi (1803-Monza-1875), father of the genre painter Mose Bianchi and grandfather of Pompeo Mariani. On the orders of the Casa di Arconati, G. Bianchi went to Milan to study at the Brera Academy under Giuseppe Longhi. After his studies, he devoted himself primarily to religious painting (frescoes, altarpieces), portraits, and miniatures in watercolor and on ivory. He also taught drawing for many years at the Collegio dei Barnabiti and the Collegio Bosisio in Monza. He is a renowned representative of the Lombard school. Works: Monza, Galleria d'Art Civile.
