"Two Miniatures On Ivory, Portrait Of Young Girls In A Gilt Bronze Frame, Early 19th Century"
Pair of oval miniatures on ivory representing two children from the Restoration period. The first child wears a brown jacket opening at the front to reveal a white shirt decorated with a blue silk bow. His face is framed by large curls. This portrait stands out against a cloudy pink and blue background. The second child, in a garnet velvet suit and white lace collar, also stands out against a cloudy background. The face is more elongated and he also wears a hairstyle with large curls. Some small paint losses at the bottom left. The gilt bronze frames are topped with a ribbon and rose garlands motif. These miniatures are both protected by glass. We note a great quality of execution in small strokes. The children's eyes are lively with white highlights to accentuate the brightness of the pupils. These are probably two children from the same family. Dimensions at sight: H: 5 cm / W: 4 cm for the two miniatures.
