Large "white" Plate From Faenza, Late 16th Century. 45 Cm In Diameter
Artist: Atelier Du Calamelli Au Don Pino
An interesting plate with a large diameter—a full 45 cm—produced in the kilns of Faenza between the last quarter of the 16th century and the early 17th century. The plate features a beautiful white glaze and delicate decoration along the rim, typical of Faenza’s “compendiaria” style, pioneered by the ceramic workshops of Virgiliotto Calamelli and Don Pino, which continued production into the early 17th century. The plate has never been restored, and the crack in the center has been stabilized.
