The Bamilekés are a people of Central Africa, living in thewestern region of Cameroon, a vast savanna region on the volcanic highlandsof the Grassland. Uncommon among the Bamileke, this mask belongs to the“Ku’n’gau” society, reserved for dignitaries representing the Fon (supreme chief,who holds territorial, civil, and military authority).
