Condition report: excellent condition, some minor firing flaws.
Our bowl features an elegant lotus decoration, glazed in green overglaze. This type of decoration, with green glaze on a white background, originated during the first decades of the 15th century under the reign of the Yongle Emperor. This bowl, although its mark is apocryphal, is a piece of very high quality: the body, immaculately white, produces a delightful crystalline resonance when struck, attesting to its fineness. A few tiny firing flaws are a reminder that this object was traditionally produced in a wood-fired kiln. Its harmonious decor is also created and enhanced by hand.
