Samson factory, Paris, late 19th century.

Condition report: Excellent condition, wear to the silver plating, a hairline crack on the lid of one.
Originating in Japan, Kakiemon porcelain had a major influence on the new porcelain factories of the 18th century in Europe. The style was adopted in Meissen, Germany, where copies could be very close to the originals, with painters sometimes borrowing designs from the originals for use on other forms and in combination with other styles. Kakiemon influences can also be found in Delftware and Chinese export porcelain. In Austria, Kakiémon porcelain can be found produced by Du Paquier and by the "Viennese manufactories." The same is true in France, in the porcelain of Chantilly, Mennecy, and the Saint-Cloud earthenware factory, as well as in Italy in the porcelain of Venice, Doccia in Tuscany, and Capodimonte in Naples.
