Large Altar Fronton Or Altarpiece In Carved And Gilded Wood, 18th Century
An imposing 18th-century altar pediment, carved from wood, gilded, and painted.
The composition, carved in high relief, features a rich decoration of acanthus leaves, shells, and floral motifs harmoniously arranged around a painted cross placed at its center.
The sculpture, bold and dynamic, retains all the decorative power characteristic of Baroque-era religious ornamentation.
The piece is in good overall condition. There is an old repair, visible on the reverse, as well as gilding that was restored in the 19th century.
This large architectural element can be displayed as a decorative pediment, a lintel, or elegantly repurposed as a canopy crown.
