Rare Blue John Marquetry Cup, First Half Of The 19th Century

Blue John Marquetry Cup, First Half of the 19th Century.

A rather unusual cup. dating from the first half of the 19th century this cup consists of a square base decorated with four blue john plaques on a black Belgian marble base with an intermediate alabaster plaque.
we find a worked alabaster plaque above the blue john and a new Belgian black plaque which receives a very beautiful alabaster cup on a pedestal.
the cup itself is in alabaster, the base is carved with antique palmettes and the body is made of blue john marq flutes.
the result is charming and unusual.
an old restoration inside the cup visible in the photos.
good general condition.

a beautiful blue john marquetry cup on alabaster of neoclassical inspiration dating from the first half of the 19th century.

dimensions:
22 cm high, square base of 8 cm by 8 cm.
