Pair Of Patinated Bronze Cups With Floral Decor – Susse Freres – Art Nouveau

An elegant pair of patinated bronze bowls, featuring rich naturalistic foliage decoration in the characteristic style of Art Nouveau, circa 1900.

Each bowl features a wide basin shaped like a large, fully bloomed flower, with deeply veined and dynamically shaped petals. It is supported by a leafy stem resting on a base entirely composed of large, finely modeled leaves.

A verybeautiful bronze piece, particularly well-executed in its rendering of the veins, reliefs, and natural irregularities of the foliage.

The patina, in shades of brown, green, and golden brown, pleasantly highlights the modeling and lends the piece a great deal of character.

One leaf bears the raised mark “SUSSE FRÈRES”, a famous Parisian foundry and art publisher.

Thepresence of this signature is a particularly interesting feature of this decorative pair, representative of the naturalistic taste of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
