Reliquary: Work Of The Convent - Blessed Marie Alacoque And Blessed Marie Des Anges

A very pretty reliquary frame with gilded scrollwork featuring floral motifs, pearls, and glass beads. At the center of this gilded and colorful design is a white crucifix (plaster or sugar paste).

At the base of the Calvary is a heart containing the relics of:
- Blessed Margaret Mary (or Alacoque; 1647–1690, a French nun from Burgundy), beatified in 1864 by Pope Pius IX.
- And Blessed Mary of the Angels (1661–1717, an Italian nun), also beatified in 1865 by Pope Pius IX.

Superb convent craftsmanship.
Circa 1880.

Dimensions:
Total: 23.5 x 19.5 cm. Visible area: 15 x 11 cm

Wooden frame in very good condition.
Mounted on cardboard on the back, in perfect condition. Protective glass present on the front of the frame.

Historical note: Marguerite-Marie Alacoque was canonized in 1920 by Pope Benedict XV. The reliquary therefore predates this event by a considerable margin.
