Articulated Silver Swordfish – Spain, Mid-20th Century
An elegant and original, fully articulated silver swordfish, a Spanish piece from the mid-20th century.
The body, crafted with particular care, consists of a series of finely chiseled, movable scales that allow the fish to assume various poses. The head, gills, fins, and broad tail are also crafted with great precision.
The silhouette is particularly well-executed, featuring the long rostrum characteristic of the swordfish. The eyes are set with red cabochons, adding a lovely touch of color to the piece.
The piece bears Spanish hallmarks, notably the five-pointed star indicating 915/1000 silver, as well as a maker’s mark within a polygonal cartouche where the letter M remains visible.
A beautiful piece of decorative silverwork, serving as both a collector’s item and a curiosity, remarkable for its proportions and the finesse of its craftsmanship.
